Description:
The Senior Java Software Engineer must have 4-8 years of experience, a solid background in Java application development and multi-year experience with open source development platforms. A broad background in many software technologies is essential.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Participate in negotiating the timeframe for a group project and assigning tasks to others
• Design, implement and maintain new software features as defined by Product Management
• Investigate new technologies to improve current products and enable new products
• Provide technical advice, leadership and direction to junior engineers
• Document code and procedures thoroughly
• Conduct, participate in, and lead reviews of design and code
• Use common development tools such as compilers, debuggers, profiling tools and source control system
Required Qualifications:
• BS in Computer Science, or related field
• 4-8 years software engineering experience
• Expert knowledge of Java & J2EE
• Expert knowledge of one or more applications servers like Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere
• Expert knowledge of one or more web servers like Apache, IIS
• Proficiency with XML, HTML/cHTML/XHTML, HTTP, TCP/IP
• Proficiency with Windows platform
• Solid experience with Object Oriented Analysis, Design and Programming (RUP & UML)
• Motivated self-starter who likes working on very productive, fast-paced teams
• Strong organizational skills
• Possess the capability to work well with non-technical staff in defining requirements
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience with UNIX software development (Solaris and Linux)
• Experience with JavaScript, Perl, DOS Batch, and/or other scripting languages
• Experience with database technologies, Oracle, Sybase, SQL server, and/or MYSQL
• Understanding of scalability and performance issues
• Understanding of code manipulation and optimization issues
